Adventure?

In December 2024, we booked a Baltic Sea cruise for a time far into the future. And, that time, is almost now.

We flew out of Richmond at 3 PM. The flight was on time. Uneventful. And as soon as we boarded, the remainder of our flight was cancelled and no options to rebook existed through the United app. I assume this cancellation was due to the fact that we were to fly from DC to Canada and wildfires are raging there.

So we hastily rebooked on Iceland Air.

We landed early. And waited, and waited, and waited for our bags.

Andrea got in (a very long) line to inquire about our bags. And soon texted me this…

My interpretation of what happened next is that United was holding our bags hostage and they wanted to keep our money. So they rebooked us to fly from DC to Lisbon to Stockholm. They assured us our bags will follow and I hope they do - before we shove off on the cruise come Monday.

We are not flying through Canada when we head home and hopefully Canada will not be on fire by then.

I'm now awaiting a call back from Iceland Air/and am on hold again to cancel that flight. I've been talking about a trip to Iceland for a long time so this will all work out. Right? (Edit: it worked out - enough).

So what else is new besides packing & organizing for a week? Let's see…moving towards completion of hypnosis certification. To complete the training, I need 3 people to be willing to experience hypnosis by yours truly so I'll be booking those when I return.

I've also been rebuilding my entire website on a totally different platform - it's close to done. Done-ish. I plan to birth that upon my return too.

Work had a plot twist late spring when there was a resignation on my team. Which led me to restructure and later learn a lesson about “trust but verify” because imagine my surprise when I discovered work that I was told was done was not done. So now I have a lovely woman named Anita I found through Upwork completing the work. I'm learning a lot. Learning can be painful and tiring. But the good news is that you don't have to make the same mistake twice. Rest assured that I'll make brand spanking new mistakes - some may even be on a boat in the Baltic Sea.
